Earn Your Education Minor at 17Թ
The 17Թ education undergraduate program is designed for students who want to understand education as a social, political, and community-based practice. You’ll study how schooling shapes opportunity and inequality while exploring pedagogy, education policy, and reform in urban contexts. While Oxy does not offer teacher certification, the program prepares you to be an effective educator in the broadest sense.
Coursework is paired with hands-on experience through community-based learning in Los Angeles. You’ll work with public schools and local organizations in Northeast LA, Pasadena, and Glendale, applying theory to real educational challenges. Graduates of the 17Թ Education Department pursue careers in teaching, school leadership, nonprofit advocacy, policy, and graduate study in education and related fields.
