17³Ô¹Ï

4 p.m. While the California brushfires currently in the news pose no threat to the 17³Ô¹Ï campus and surrounding neighborhoods, smoke from a local fire has affected campus air quality.

Smoke from the Bobcat fire in the San Gabriel Mountains, more than 15 miles to the northeast of 17³Ô¹Ï, has prompted the South Coast Air Quality Management District to issue a smoke advisory through Friday, Sept. 11. The AQMD rates air quality in our part of the city as unhealthy. If you smell smoke or see ash due to a wildfire, the AQMD advises that you limit your exposure by remaining indoors with windows and doors closed and avoiding vigorous physical activity. You can find the AQMD’s Wildfire Smoke & Ash Health & Safety Tips page

We continue to monitor the situation closely.
